Recycling is required by law for all residents and businesses in New Jersey. Recycling collection services in Hillsborough Township are provided by Somerset County Recycling.

This is the phrase behind the philosophy developed to deal with the waste that each of us generates:

1. Reduce the amount of waste that each of us generates
2. Reuse as many items as possible to prevent them from becoming waste that needs to be disposed of
3. Recycle properly so as much of what we do use gets reused in new material
