Express Bus Service to New York City

Due to Hillsborough’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia, there are many commuter options to get into each city. Hillsborough has a bus service operated by Coach USA that leaves from the Hillsborough Promenade. Parking for the commuter bus is free, with 250 spots set aside, marked by green paint and “Park and Ride” signs.

Somerset County Bus Services

Somerset County operates three different public transit bus lines – SCOOT, DASH and CAT. These buses can be used by anyone for work, school, errands or recreation.

Somerset County buses operate Monday through Friday. No appointment is necessary to ride. The fare is $2.00 per trip, and transfer tickets can be purchased from the driver for $0.50.


Local train stations that provide access to both cities through NJTransit. There are stations in Somerville and Raritan, which provide access to the Raritan Valley Line. There are also stations in New Brunswick and Princeton Junction that provide access to the Northeast Corridor. New Brunswick is an express train stop. Information for these stations is available on

RideWise Inc. is an independent non-profit organization that is dedicated to promoting and advocating for transportation choices that are efficient, safe, and sustainable.

RideWise engages with large and small employers, local government, state agencies, school districts, and other non-profits to advocate for travel options that are good for business, good for the environment, and good for communities. RideWise achieves this through programming that focuses on pedestrian safety, public transit, biking and ridesharing.
