The Hillsborough Mayors Wellness Campaign is committed to improving the health and wellness of our community; to identify local health and wellness needs, promote active living in support of those needs, increase awareness and strategies to prevent chronic illness and decrease health disparities that may exist. The ultimate goal is to mitigate the cost to our society and increase the quality of life in Hillsborough for a healthy Hillsborough.
Hillsborough Township has actively promoted healthy living and participated in health awareness initiatives long before having received the American Heart Association’s AHA Fit Friendly Award in 2006 and joining the Mayors Wellness Campaign.
Hillsborough became a Mayors Wellness Campaign Healthy Town designee in 2010, received the 2019 New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute’s award for Mayors Wellness programming, the New Jersey Healthy Town Up and Coming Award and was named New Jersey Healty Town to Wach in 2021.
Community health and the well-being of our neighbors was pushed to the forefront as we began navigating the unfamiliar territory of a world-wide pandemic. Many people looked for ways to help others; by donating food, personal protective equipment, monetary donations, gift certificates to local restaurants, volunteering and reaching out to one another in a multitude of ways.
We are learning anew what it means to be healthy, to be aware of and care for each other, how the health of our neighbors is paramount to living in a healthy community, and to look for ways to positively impact the quality of life for those who live, work and play in our town.
Please join me in committing to a healthy lifestyle, or starting new healthy habits, and support and care for our neighbors to help build a healthy Hillsborough.
