Hurricane Season Approaching - Check Your Storm Drains

The Engineering Department would like to remind residents, that with the hurricane season approaching, the Township is asking property owners that live near streams, ditches, and other stormwater drainage ways to NOT place grass clippings, tree branches, and other vegetation debris or any type of debris into these locations.  Placing debris into drainage ways will cause blockages of the drainage way and downstream culverts, bridges, etc.  This will create abnormal flooding to adjoining properties either upstream or downstream of the drainage way.  Please keep debris from the drainage ways.  Dumping into stormwater drainage ways is a violation of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection standards and property owners could be issued a violation and penalty.  A notice was also sent as an advisory to property owners adjoining storm water drainage ways.
