Penalties for Distracted Driving
A cell phone ticket isn't only for talking or texting. Plugging in your cell phone, checking the time, or simply having a phone in your hand is considered a "distracted driving" violation. The penalty for a first time offense is a fine of $289 and 0 points, and the fine for a second offense is approximately $489. Third time offenders will find 3 points added to their license as well as a court fine. Be mindful and put your cell phone down.
