If you find your college student is in the middle of a quarantine when he or she must come home, please be sure to have them quarantine away from the rest of the family immediately. It is even better if a dedicated bathroom is provided, especially if they become symptomatic.
Please contact the health department if the person becomes symptomatic or tests positive for Covid 19.
In the event the student needs help with moving, please be sure that whoever assists them wears a mask and stays a minimum of 6 ft. away from the student. They should also undergo a symptom check and temperature check at the school. If someone else must drive the student or with the student in the same vehicle, please consider doing the following:
- If the student is a contact of a positive case, whoever drives the student must quarantine for 14 days from contact with the student in the car if the student becomes positive within 2 days of that contact.
- If the student is a positive case, whoever drives the student is at risk of contracting the disease, and is considered a direct contact of a case. This person must quarantine for 14 days from contact with the positive student.
If possible, find alternative transportation, such as the student renting a car to get home. If your student is in quarantine and must fly home, please contact the student’s school to see if the student can get accommodations at the school for the remainder of the quarantine period.
