Township Committee Honors William Rocco Shields DeGregorio

At the June 9th meeting, the Township Committee honored William Rocco Shields DeGregorio, step-son of devoted Hillsborough Board of Education employee, Kathy Major. On June 2nd, William passed away at the young age of 11 after a long battle with pediatric cancer.

“The Township Committee commend and honor William Rocco Shields DeGregorio for his courage, bravery, compassion and spirit” said Mayor Doug Tomson.

Will loved sports, especially baseball, and even after a particularly difficult surgery removing most of his hip, and anticipated years of rehabilitation, he returned to the pitching mound in six months. His favorite color was blue which represented all his favorite sports teams: NY Giants, NY Rangers, and NY Yankees.

Will's favorite season was winter and he loved sledding.  His beautiful blue eyes, infectious smile and giggle brightened every room he entered and put all at ease around him. He was the ultimate fighter and never gave up. He touched so many lives and his strength, wit, smile, and love of life will live on and not be forgotten.
