Township Health Department Takes Proactive Steps to Assist Retail Food Establishments
“The Health Department is taking a proactive approach to assist retail food establishments during this crisis, while ensuring they are adhering to the requirements keeping both customers and employees safe,” announced Mayor Doug Tomson at Tuesday’s Township Committee meeting.
Retail food establishments have been permitted to remain open for business in New Jersey during the Coronavirus Pandemic, offering food by take out only. These establishments are required to follow specific safety regulations, such as social distancing.
The Hillsborough Health Department will continue to conduct routine inspections of retail food establishments to ensure all guidelines and regulations are being followed. They are also providing the food establishments with a “Best Practices for Retail Food Establishments” Guide that will be reviewed with owners and managers during the inspection process. In addition, a “Best Practices Guide for Retail Food Establishment Customers” is also being shared via the Township website and enews to help patrons be familiar with the appropriate guidelines.
