On Saturday, May 4th, Mayor DelCore, Deputy Mayor Tomson, Committeewoman Holmes, and Committeewoman McCauley joined Tony Foord’s family and friends in a memorial ceremony dedicating a bench at Municipal Soccer Fields to the long-time Hillsborough resident who played an instrumental role in the Hillsborough Youth Soccer Club program.

Mr. Foord immigrated from England in 1961 and brought his love for the game of soccer.  To quote his family, “he enjoyed playing, coaching, refereeing and managing all things soccer”.

Tony was involved with the Hillsborough Soccer Club for over 25 years, serving as the President of the organization for over 10 years and working to establish the laws of the Hillsborough Soccer Club.  The white PVC tubing holding the flags that can be seen around the field was a project he proudly spearheaded.

Mr. Foord was an active member of the community and well respected by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
