Township Hires 5 Police Officers

The Township Committee at Tuesday’s Meeting acted on the recommendation of the Chief of Police and hired five police officers.  “There are various vacancies within the Police Department and upon the conclusion of a thorough search and interview process of very capable candidates, the following officers were selected to be hired:  Thomas Anzalone, Kulbeer Singh, Dillon Kelly, James Sakers and John Tranculov,” stated Deputy Mayor Doug Tomson before the officers were sworn in.

“I’d like to congratulate these candidates on their completion of the rigorous interviewing process and the Police Department looks forward to having them join our ranks,” commented Hillsborough Township Police Chief Darren Powell.

The Officers were joined by their families, Chief of Police Darren Powell, Police Liaisons Deputy Mayor Doug Tomson and Committeewoman Gloria McCauley for the swearing-in ceremony.

Thomas Anzalone is 23 years of age and resides in Hamilton. Officer Anzalone has an Associates Degree from Mercer County College and is currently attending Rutgers University.  He has been working part time as a police officer for Sea Girt Police Department since his graduation from Monmouth County Police Academy in May 2018.
Kulbeer Singh is 20 years of age and resides in Iselin. Officer Singh graduated from  Raritan Bay Medical School for EMS in May 2016, attended Ocean County Police Academy and graduated the academy in May 2018.  He is currently working as a police officer with Carteret Police Department.
Dillon Kelly is 26 years of age and resides in Hamilton. Officer Kelly obtained his Associates Degree from Mercer County College in 2013, attended Mercer County Police Academy Alternate Route Program and graduated in February 2019.
James Sakers is 25 years of age and resides in Brick. Officer Sakers obtained his Associates Degree from Ocean County College in 2014, attended the Ocean County Police Academy and graduated in April of 2017.  He is currently working part-time as a police officer for Englishtown Police Department.
John Tranculov is 33 years of age and resides in Three Bridges.  Officer Tranculov has an Associates from Morris County College, a Bachelors in Sociology from William Patterson University and attended the Ocean County Police Academy.  He is currently employed as a police officer and part-time dispatcher with Carteret Police Department.
