Police Chief McMahon and the Hillsborough Township Police Department reminds everyone that school is back in session as of September 5th, which will mean increased pedestrian traffic as some students walk to school and increased bus traffic.
Please be alert to flashing lights on stopped buses as children are entering and exiting the buses. Passing a stopped bus with warning lights activated can result in a 5 point violation and substantial fines.
When traveling on a divided road, such as Raider Blvd. or Triangle Rd., and on the opposite side of the median as the bus, you are not required to stop, but must reduce speed to 10 mph.
The Police Department will be monitoring school bus stops and active school zones throughout the school year. Motorists should allow for extra travel time and anticipate increased volume around school facilities.
