“Hillsborough Township will participate in the 5th Annual Hillsborough Community Night at the New Jersey Devils’ Friday, March 1st game against the Philadelphia Flyers,” announced Mayor Gloria McCauley.
“This year the Township and PBA #205 are partnering for an even bigger community event,” added Mayor McCauley.
As in years past, Hillsborough Township will be recognized throughout the evening including a group welcome on the scoreboard and a post-game on-ice photo for all guests in attendance.
Hillsborough Police Department, PBA Local 205, will have the privilege of presenting the Honor Guard at the beginning of the game. Mr. Tim Coyle, a 27 year Hillsborough resident, will be recognized during the Hero of the Game ceremony. Mr. Coyle has proudly served our country and our community. He was in the Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict – starting his military career as an Airman and working his way up to the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Coyle is a volunteer firefighter with Woods Road Fire Department and is the ex-Chief of the company. Mr. Coyle had the honor of being the Grand Marshal at this year’s Hillsborough Memorial Day Parade.
Furthermore, this joint fundraiser will benefit both the Special Olympics and the Wacker Family. PBA #205 and the Township participates each year in the Torch Run for Special Olympics, carrying the torch down Route 206 as part of the day-long event kicking off the Special Olympics Ceremony held in Trenton. Sergeant Fred Wacker passed away at his home unexpectedly on November 19, 2016. He was an eighteen year veteran who had served in many capacities in the Hillsborough Police Department.
It is a great event open to all ages! Tickets and Group Packages will be on sale for township residents who would like to attend. To purchase your tickets, please visit the designated website at https://fevo.me/hillsborough.
