Rabies Advisory: Groundhog found on Taylor Avenue on August 28th tested positive for rabies – Call the Health Department with any questions or concerns

A groundhog found in the area of 122 Taylor Avenue in Hillsborough on Wednesday, August 28th tested positive for rabies. Rabies is a virus passed in the saliva of an infected animal and it is fatal to a person if treatment does not start before symptoms begin.

Remember to have all pets currently vaccinated against rabies. Do not handle any pet in contact with wildlife with bare hands for 4 hours after any incident. Call Police at 908-369-4323 and St. Hubert’s Animal Control Contractors at 908-526-3330 for any incident or animal with suspicious behavior such as wobbly walking, aggression, or animals unafraid of humans.
