Mayor McCauley Attends Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America is committed to teaching younger generations about the value of their freedoms and the importance of honoring those who sacrificed so much to protect those freedoms. Each December a convoy of 18 wheelers loaded with evergreen wreaths are transported from Maine to Arlington National Cemetery. On December 18th the convoy made a stop at Montgomery High School and Mayor Gloria McCauley was there to pay her respects and attend the ceremony.

Convoy escorts include American Gold Star Mothers, Blue Star Families, Gold Star Wives of America, veterans and Wreaths Across America volunteers. Patriot Guard Riders, Patriot Riders of America and Rolling Thunder flanked the escort along with Maine law enforcement officers. The high school ceremony included a color guard from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, representatives from Somerset County Veterans Affairs, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Rolling Thunder, civil war reenactors, and many more supporters of our veterans.
