Hillsborough High School student, Sean Cavanaugh, won the 2019 Louis Bay II Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition and was honored at the May 28th Township Committee meeting. The purpose of this scholarship program is to advance the virtues of elected and volunteer positions in municipal government while raising awareness of municipal government in general.
For the competition, Sean had to write an essay on the theme, “What My Municipal Government Does Best,” based on his perceptions or experiences with his local government. As the winner in Hillsborough Township, Sean was also designated a state semi-finalist and his essay and application will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee of the New Jersey.
“We are extremely proud of Sean Cavanaugh and his accomplishment and we are honored to have as part of our community,” says Mayor Frank DelCore.
