“Hillsborough Township is partnering with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset and hosting a Blood Drive,” announced Deputy Mayor Doug Tomson, Liaison to the Board of Health. The Blood Drive will take place on Thursday, January 17th from 2pm to 7:30pm at the Peter J. Biondi Municipal Building located at 379 South Branch Road. All donors will receive a free T-shirt.
The drive will be conducted by hospital as part of the its mobile blood collection program. This event is a special opportunity for Hillsborough residents to help their community; all blood collected at the drive will stay within the community to be used by patients at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset/RWJBarnabas Health.
The blood donation process is safe, efficient and takes approximately 45 minutes. Donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh 110 lbs. (Donors who are 16 may donate with parental consent and need to weigh at least 120 lbs.) If participating, photo identification is required and it is important to eat and drink well before donating. You may not donate if you have a history of viral hepatitis at age 11 or older, are recovering from an infectious illness, are in a high risk group (such as individuals with HIV or AID or spent a total of three months or more in the United Kingdom between 1980 and 1996.
