Hillsborough Township and Hillsborough Education Association (HEA) Working Together for BORO Pride

The BORO Pride initiative grew from conversations with Dr. Lisa Antunes, Assistant Superintendent of Hillsborough Township Public Schools, and the Hillsborough Education Association (HEA) related to collaboration and stakeholder connections that strengthen our schools and community. Following these conversations, Elena Maucere, HEA 2nd Vice President and PRIDE Chair, began looking into how we could further develop these ideas and share them with the community.

Ms. Maucere, in conjunction with the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA), designed a logo to capture the essence of these ideas. The logo is a heart with representation of all the community stakeholders that collaborate to make Hillsborough a town that truly cares about its residents. The logo and overall plan was shared with the various stakeholders. Additionally, Ms. Maucere wrote an ambitious grant that was generously funded by the NJEA to produce materials that could be shared with the community to celebrate our BORO Pride.

“We are happy to collaborate with all of these community stakeholders,” commented Mayor Frank DelCore.

“Hillsborough is a remarkable community with a sense of pride fostered through generations and built upon a foundation of strong schools and the dedication of all stakeholders,” Henry Goodhue, Hillsborough Education Association, President, Hillsborough parent and resident of fourteen years.

“Hillsborough is a wonderful place to live because of the strong feeling of community it has. Everyone pulls together to help those in need,” Lora Peterson, Hillsborough parent and resident of seven years.

“I am very proud of our students’ accomplishments, and how our teachers and staff work to bring out the very best in them,” Jorden Schiff, Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools.

“All of us at Catered Affair are so very proud to have met so many wonderful BORO people in the past 30 years of business and to be such an integral part of this town’s history,” said Karen Bloom Events Coordinator for Catered Affair.

“We continue to work with the community in a unified manner for the safety and betterment of Hillsborough and welcome this opportunity to further support Hillsborough,” commented Hillsborough Township Police Chief Darren Powell.

“Hillsborough has diverse demographics, topography nestled in the heart of Somerset County and a strong sense of community. The partnership between the residents, businesses, those that work within the community and Hillsborough Education Associate is another initiative that exemplifies that Hillsborough is one of the Best Places to Live in America”, proudly said Mayor Frank DelCore.
