At the April 9th Township Committee Meeting, the Hillsborough Township Committee extended their sincere congratulations and appreciation to Hillsborough Township Fire Marshal John Andreychak, Chief of Hillsborough Fire Company #2 Billy Shaffer, and Hillsborough Police Officer Jacob Lawrence  for saving the life of the ShopRite employee and for being shining examples of the best Hillsborough has to offer.

Hillsborough Fire Marshal John Andreychak, and Chief of Hillsborough Fire Company #2 Billy Shaffer, were awarded letters of commendation for saving the life of a Shoprite employee on February 28, 2019.

Hillsborough Police Officer Jacob Lawrence is also receiving a Life Saving Award for the successful resuscitation of the same individual.

While off duty, Fire Marshal Andreychak discovered the employee having a medical emergency. After contacting EMS he applied CPR with another ShopRite employee, Chief Shaffer, lending assistance with the resuscitation efforts.

When Officer Lawrence responded to the emergency, he found the emplyee unresponsive. Thankfully, Officer Lawrence used life saving CPR and applied a defibrillator until the person was once again responsive.

The experience, professionalism, dedication and training of Fire Marshal Andreychak, Fire Chief Shaffer, and  Officer Lawrence were an integral part in saving this individual’s life. Their actions are truly representative of the high level of service and leadership provided by the  Hillsborough Bureau of Fire Safety and the Hillsborough Police Department.
