At the February 26, 2019 Township Committee Meeting, the Mayor and Township Committee honored Jonathan Vincent Demetrio, a Junior at Hillsborough High School and a member of Boy Scout Troop 489, for earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Jonathan’s Eagle Scout project consisted of planning, fundraising, organizing, building and staining three sturdy benches around a campfire pit for St. Joseph’s Parish. The project took 147 hours to complete with the help of 12 scouts and 13 adult leaders. The completed project provides a comfortable seating area that benefits the Youth Ministry as well as other church groups using the fire pit.

Jonathan served as Patrol Leader and Den Chief for Pack 189. He earned 37 merit badges earning him a bronze, gold, and silver Eagle Palm.

Jonathan has volunteered at Catholic Heart Youth Camp, SCLS Little Bits Gadgets, and Gizmos STEM program for elementary grade students.

Jonathan serves as an example to the youth of Hillsborough Township through his high level of leadership and community service, and we are very proud that he is a member of our community.
