At the February 26, 2019 Township Committee Meeting, the Mayor and Township Committee honored Evan Michael Centofanti, a Junior at Hillsborough High School and a member of Boy Scout Troop 489, for earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Evan’s Eagle Scout project consisted of planning, fundraising, designing and building five Patrol Boxes for Camp Agnes DeWitt. The project was completed in 204 hours with the assistance of 10 scouts, 4 leaders, 6 adults and friends. The rectangular boxes have removable shelves and a latch to keep the box secure. These boxes allow supplies to be stored safely and securely from weather and wildlife. The impact of the project provides a means of keeping the campgrounds neat, safe and secure.

Evan served as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He attained the rank of Eagle with 31 merit badges earning him a bronze and gold Eagle Palm.

Evan has volunteered at Hillsborough Township Library, Project Graduation and Empower Somerset. He is active in the Hillsborough High School Choir and Theatre programs as well as the New Jersey Music Educators Association, All State Chorus, and Central Jersey Region Mixed Chorus.

Evan serves as an example to the youth of Hillsborough Township through his high level of leadership and community service, and we are very proud that he is a member of our community.
