The Administrator's office oversees and is responsible for the day-to-day activities and functions of all departments of the Township. Additionally, this office handles personnel, insurance, central purchasing and public relations. The Administrator is responsible to the Mayor and the Township Committee.
The Township Clerk's office is entrusted with numerous and diverse duties. By law, it acts as secretary to the governing body and liaison between the governing officials and the taxpayers. It also acts as the public relations office in the municipal organization. It is directly responsible to the Mayor and the Township Committee and provides them with essential information. It is also the licensing official (dogs, alcoholic beverage sales, peddlers, raffles, bingo, games of chance) and issues permits for special affairs. It is also the keeper of the Townships records and has the task of collecting and preserving them.
The Hillsborough Township Committee combined the positions of Township Administrator and Township Clerk, at a significant savings to property taxpayers, in January, 2004.
