Hillsborough Township’s website will be one of several places where citizens can access the Charter Study Commission’s report calling for a change in the Hillsborough form of government from Township Committee to Mayor Council, Hillsborough Township Committeeman Carl Suraci has announced.
A request to have the change of government question listed on the November 6, 2007 ballot has been forwarded to the Somerset County Clerk by Hillsborough’s Administrator/Township Clerk, Suraci also reported.
“The Township will make every effort to make the Charter Study Commission report available to the public, so that voters can make an informed decision,” Suraci stated.
According to Suraci, a copy of the Charter Study Commission’s report is available both in the Hillsborough Library and at the Municipal Clerk’s office. A copy can also be viewed and downloaded at the Township’s website here.
Residents will also be able to view and download a copy of the Charter Study report from the Township’s e-newsletter on a regular basis, beginning with this week’s edition continuing through election day.
The videos of the Charter Study Commission meetings will continue to be available over the internet at the Township’s website, Suraci added.
“The decision to radically change Hillsborough’s form of government is a momentus one. People need to be fully informed and I believe that the Township is more than meeting the obligation to do so by making the Commission’s report available as much as possible,” Committeman Suraci concluded.
