The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has issued a statement regarding the possibility of increases in H1N1 infections this spring since this virus began its attack last spring season.
The CDC recommends influenza vaccination as the first and most important step in protecting against the flu and is now encouraging everyone to get vaccinated against 2009 H1N1, including people 65 years and older.
According to the CDC, vaccination of people with certain health conditions is especially important because they are more likely to get serious flu-related complications. Health conditions that increase the risk of being hospitalized from 2009 H1N1 include lung disease like asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes, heart, or neurologic dise
ase, and pregnancy.

"In addition to the information on the Township’s homepage, the Health Department webpage, also available via the Hillsborough’s website, has important information on preparedness, including how to take care of sick family members at home," Mayor Frank DelCore stated.
