Hillsborough’s Interfaith Community Network Unites Township Faith-Based Organizations for a Common Goal

Network provides outreach and education through positive activities

Hillsborough Township’s Interfaith Community Network recently partnered with the Pioneer Family Success Center to co-host “Flowers for Mom,” an interactive event where children made Mother’s Day gifts while learning about Stranger Danger. About 90 people attended the event, one of several positive activities planned to provide outreach and education through the Township’s faith-based community.

"The Pioneer Family Success Center had a successful Family Fun Night, Flowers for Mom, in large part due to the volunteers from the Hillsborough Interfaith Community Network and the staff of Hillsborough Township, “ said Pastor Tim Wolf of the Pioneer Family Success Center. “The parents and children had a great time and went home with decorated flower pots and flowers for Mother's Day."

Organized in 2023 by Hillsborough Township Administrator Anthony Ferrera, the Interfaith Community Network aims to have participating congregations share local resources and collaborate on some of today’s most pressing issues.

“Members of BoroSafe, the Hillsborough-Municipal Alliance, Hillsborough Township Police, the Hillsborough Library, the Board of Education, and the Youth Services Commission attended the interfaith meeting at the Municipal Building last week,” said Township Administrator Anthony Ferrera. “Bringing together faith and community-based organizations is one way for community leaders to work as a team to provide education and support to those in need.”

The Interfaith Community Network consists of faith-based leaders from the following organizations:

● Bahai Community

● Central Jersey Hindu Association Durga Mandir

● Clover Hill Reformed Church

● Faith Lutheran Church ● Fellowship Bible Church

● Hillsboro Maharaja Club

● Hillsborough Reformed Church

● Mary, Mother of God Church ● Muslim Center of Somerset

● New Horizons Christian Fellowship

● South Branch Reformed Church

● St. Joseph’s Church

● St. Mary & St. Athanasius Coptic Orthodox Church

● St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church

● St. Michaels UCC

● Temple Beth-el

● Taiwanese/American Fellowship Presbyterian Church

“I’m incredibly proud that our township launched the interfaith group last year through our Township administrator, Mr. Ferrera. There are a multitude of groups representing so many people, cultures, and religions in our town. It is wonderful to see so many people coming together for a common purpose,” said Mayor Robert Britting at the April 30th Township Committee meeting.

The Interfaith Community Network is hosting a prayer service to commemorate the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2nd, at 9:30 am in the Garden of Honor at the Hillsborough Municipal Complex. The public is invited to attend.

The Network will also participate in the Yoga by the Pond (several dates), the Green Living and Wellness Fair/Ridewise Bike Drive on June 1st, Teen Speak on June 4th and 12th, and the Family Fun Day and Fireworks on June 29th.
