Hillsborough Township Committee Approves $9 Million Roadway Bond Ordinance

At the April 30th Township Committee meeting, the Hillsborough Township Committee approved a $9 million bond ordinance to fund improvements to various Township Roads.

The bonding for road repaving and repairs will be used on roads with the most need. To be fair to all residents, the Township utilizes a computer ranking system to rank the conditions of all 250 miles of roadway within Hillsborough’s jurisdiction. Prepared by outside consultants, the ranking system is not influenced by Township employees or the Township Committee.

The bonded money for road repair/repaving will be used over a 5-year plan. The Engineering Department is preparing the yearly plan of roads that need improvement most, which will be released shortly.

“This bond will help the Township roads that need it the most and provide relief for residents and travelers who frequent those roads,” said Mayor Robert Britting. ###
